YIT SIGNS CONTRACT FOR BUILDING SYSTEMS IN 3RD EXPANSION PHASE OF KANNELMÄKI SHOPPING CENTRE IN HELSINKI, FINLAND

YIT Kiinteistötekniikka Oy has signed a contract with Skanska Talonrakennus Oy for the building systems in the 3rd expansion phase of the Kannelmäki shopping centre in Helsinki, Finland. The agreement covers all work related to plumbing, air conditioning, electrical aspects and building automation. The total value of the agreement is approximately EUR 11.5 million. The building system work will begin in May 2012 and will be completed in August 2013.

YIT Building Systems was also responsible for the building system contracts in the previously completed 1st and 2nd phases of the Kannelmäki shopping centre. The third expansion phase is an extension to the successful implementations, and it is made challenging by the gradual inauguration of the premises and integration of building systems with previously completed parts.

“Our experience in commercial construction is long and we have fine-tuned the efficiency of our operations, which means we can be competitive in large projects as well. With the new agreement, we obtain a significant work entity in our order portfolio for the next year. We will implement it using our own skilled personnel,” says Jarno Hacklin, Managing Director of YIT Kiinteistötekniikka Oy.

The construction of the third phase of the Kannelmäki shopping centre in Helsinki has already begun, and the premises will be complete by Christmas 2013. With the expansion, the floor area of the shopping centre will expand to 45,000 square metres.
