LEMMINKÄINEN TO PARTICIPATE IN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FOR KUOPIO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Lemminkäinen will participate in the first phase of the development project for support services of the Kuopio University Hospital (KUH) and the City of Kuopio. It will act as the main contractor in the project and will be responsible for all HVAC work on site. In addition to managing the worksite, the main contract includes all construction work and certain land construction work on the yard. HVAC work will involve all pipe-laying and ventilation works, as well as roof works on site. The contract was ordered by Kiinteistö Oy Mustinlampi, a subsidiary of KUH.

Construction work on the project began in February 2012 and is due for completion by the end of June 2013. The contract encompasses approximately 10,645 square metres. Construction work is valued at around 8.7 million and technical building services at around 2.6 million euros.

This support service development project marks the launch of a significant development and renovation phase of the KUH Puijo Hospital area, to be continued until 2020. The first phase of the development project involves the construction of extensions to the joint kitchen and waste centre, along with tunnel connections from the extension to the Harjula hospital and the Canthia building. Extension work includes the construction of one underground floor and three above-ground floors. The site is adjacent to the current Kuopio University Hospital building, and the underground floor will connect the extension to the hospital's existing network of service tunnels.

Lemminkäinen has carried out renovation and new construction for several challenging projects in the Kuopio region, requiring solid expertise in construction and technical building services.
