Major road contracts for Lemminkäinen in Lithuania

Lemminkäinen has won two road construction contracts from the Lithuanian Road
Administration. The combined value of the contracts is EUR 12.3 million.
Construction work will begin in spring 2010 and will be completed by the end of
August 2010. 

The contracts involve the basic repair and asphalt paving of altogether 36.4
kilometres of gravel-surfaced roads in the Vilnius and Klaipeda areas. In
addition to the paving work, the upgrade will include widening the roads,
improving their base structures, repairing the roadside ditches, and making the
road markings. The upgraded road sections will also be provided with new road
signs. The contracts are part of a nationwide infrastructure project in which
Lithuania's gravel roads are being upgraded to paved highways. 

The contracts will be partly funded by the European Union. Over the past ten
years Lemminkäinen Infra Oy has carried out numerous highway contracts funded
by the EU and the World Bank in the Baltic states, Ukraine and Moldova.
