Lemminkäinen's head office joins the Green Office network

Lemminkäinen Corporation’s head office in the Salmisaari district of Helsinki has joined the WWF’s Green Office network. Permission to use the Green Office logo was granted after an inspection of the head office building.

Green Office is an environmental programme that helps companies and other organisations to reduce the ecological footprint of their offices while simultaneously saving material and energy costs. The members of the network are committed to monitoring and reducing their consumption, and to improving their recycling and waste sorting practices.

With a practical environmental programme now in place for its head office, Lemminkäinen monitors the achievement of specified goals, informs and educates its personnel, and strives to make continuous improvements in environmental matters.

Five environmental themes have been chosen for Lemminkäinen’s head office, and their development is monitored annually: power consumption, paper consumption, consumption paths, waste volumes, and air travel. The aim is to reduce consumption in stages.

Lemminkäinen is the first large construction company operating in Finland to join the Green Office network, which currently encompasses about 170 organisations and 40,000 employees.
