Lemminkäinen receives excavation contract from Kiruna mine

LEMMINKÄINEN RECEIVES EXCAVATION CONTRACT FROM KIRUNA MINE

Lemminkäinen has won an excavation contract from LKAB Group's Kiruna iron ore
mine in Sweden. The project involves excavating work tunnels for the extraction
of ore over a total distance of two kilometres and at a depth of one kilometre.
The approx. EUR 5 million contract represents a new opening for Lemminkäinen in
the Swedish mine excavation market. 

"In recent years we have been trying to expand our business in the direction of
mine excavations, both in Finland and in Sweden. Winning this contract from one
of the world's biggest iron ore mines is a significant market opening for us,"
says Vice President Risto Kupila of Lemminkäinen Infra Oy. 

In Finland Lemminkäinen has done excavation works at several mines, most
notably those at Elijärvi, Hitura and Suurkuusikko. The company currently has a
three-year excavation contract in progress at the Pahtavaara gold mine. Since
it acquired the specialist mine excavation company Tolarock Oy in 2008,
Lemminkäinen is better able to serve its customers in the mining industry.
