YIT to renovate and extend Kuopio Courthouse

YIT and Senate Properties, the enterprise that manages the Finnish Government's properties, have signed a contract for the renovation and extension of the Kuopio Courthouse. The project started in July 2022 and is expected to be completed in early 2024. It will be implemented as a project management contract. The cost estimate for the construction is approximately EUR 13 million.

The Kuopio Courthouse project involves the renovation of an old property, built in 1929, which is historically and scenically significant and has a protected exterior. The building was last used as a tax office and before that as a fire and police station.

After the renovation, the building will meet modern indoor air and soundproofing requirements. In addition, an extension will be built in the courtyard of the courthouse, which will be integrated into the old building. In the future, the premises will house the district court, the bailiff’s office and the public prosecutor’s office.
