YIT TO RENOVATE LAHTI SPORT/FAIR CENTRE IN FINLAND
YIT and Lahti Fair Ltd. have agreed on the implementation of a renovation and construction project of an international-level sport and event arena. In the contract, the traditional Suurhalli and Messuhalli will be thoroughly renovated, and a new interim hall will be built which will connect Lahti Hall to the rest of the property. As a result of this, the functions of Urheilutalo will be relocated to Lahti Hall. YIT Construction Ltd is the project's construction and main contractor, and YIT Kiinteistötekniikka Oy will implement the IVA and sprinkler contracting. The combined value of YIT's contracts is about EUR 14.7 million.
The total gross scope of the sport and fair hall project is 19,452 square metres, of which renovation and alterations account for 16,700 squares metres (gross). The renovation will replace the Suurhalli spectator stands, field surfaces, water roof, additional thermal insulation, windows, kitchen and restaurant facilities and building technology. The construction will be completed in spring 2013.
"YIT has local competence and experience in the implementation of demanding hall contracts. The sport/fair centre contract is a natural further step for our successful cooperation with the City of Lahti as we have previously contributed to the Lahti Urheilukeskus area to construct the Lahti Hall and participated in the repair and new construction of the spectator stands of Urheilukeskus," says Jukka Pohjola, Regional Director.
