YIT INCREASED ITS MARKET SHARE IN REGIONAL ROAD MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS IN FINLAND
In the competitive bidding organised by the Finnish Transport Agency for regional road maintenance contracts, YIT Construction Ltd won seven separate regional contracts in different parts of Finland. The grand total of the contracts to be signed is EUR 90.7 million, and the contracts will start on 1 October 2012.
With the new regional contracts secured, YIT increased its market share in maintenance, from 19 percent to 26.3 percent. The regional contracts for Oulu, Jyväskylä, Kouvola, Loimaa and Merikarvia are new contracts. The regional contracts for Tampere and Rovaniemi are continuation to earlier contracts.
“We won the regional contracts by a relatively small difference in price in a tight competitive situation. The contracts are mainly for five years, except for the Kouvola contract, which lasts for seven years. The contracts secured support our strategic goal to increase YIT’s market share in regional maintenance,” says Timo Paavilainen, the head of YIT's Maintenance Unit, Infra Services.
As the new regional contracts take effect in the beginning of October, YIT will be responsible for the maintenance for 18 regional contracts in total.
