YIT AND TORSBY MUNICIPALITY CONTINUE SWEDEN'S LARGEST ENERGY PROJECT

YIT Sverige AB and Torsby municipality have agreed to enlarge their energy efficiency agreement. The municipality is investing over EUR 8 million (SEK 75 million) in its properties to create a cost effective and environmentally friendly operations for years to come. The investment is the next step in the EPC project that Torsby municipality and YIT started in spring 2011. Based on an analysis, YIT performed a program of energy efficiency for the municipality's property portfolio, including schools, kindergartens, sports facilities and residential buildings.

- We want Torsby municipality to act as a role model and will receive visits from other municipalities who want to unite the environment, jobs and the economy. It is important that our efforts have a ripple effect because we believe that we are not alone in having to implement a project of the type, says Jan Esping, Technical Director at Torsby municipality.

Energy savings will be achieved for example by replacing all oil-fired boilers, optimizing lighting, heating, water and energy distribution as well as additional insulation, and training staff. The result will be a good indoor climate, reduction in carbon emissions, increased property value, improved reliability of operations and reduced costs for Torsby Municipality.

- It is very gratifying to Torsby municipality selected YIT to continue as its partner. We have had a very positive cooperation during the first phase of the project and are therefore very optimistic to be able to achieve the set targets. As many local real estates consume a lot of energy, we believe that more municipalities will choose similar solutions, says Fredrik Sederholm, CEO of YIT Sweden AB.

YIT has extensive experience in energy efficiency services. Currently YIT has similar assignments with Västerbotten County Council, Mora Strand and Mora Municipality and Kalmar Municipality.
