YIT AND FORTUM AGREED ON A MAJOR PIPING DELIVERY TO SWEDEN

YIT has agreed on a piping delivery to a new waste combustion plant built by Ab Fortum Värme. The deal includes the plant's district heating system, district heating battery, steam and process piping and cooling water piping. The extensive delivery includes design, prefabrication, installation and commissioning. The value of the deal is about EUR 10 million.

The new waste combustion plant will be built in Brista near Stockholm and will be introduced in late 2013. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 200 million. The new production unit will be connected to the existing district heating network which supplies district heat to customers based in North and West Stockholm.

The planning of the piping delivery work has commenced. The piping prefabricates are manufactured at the YIT’s workshop in Ylivieska, Finland. The installation will begin in July and will end in September 2013. The installation in Sweden involves about 50 Finnish professionals from YIT.

The plant annually consumes about 240,000 tonnes of waste as fuel. The completed plant will produce about 60 MW of district heat and 20 MW of electricity. This corresponds to the electricity needs of about 40,000 one-family houses.
