LEMMINKÄINEN CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 12 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 13.00 A.M

LEMMINKÄINEN SIGNS A PRELIMINARY CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A PLOT IN LAPPEENRANTA

Lemminkäinen and the housing company Keskustalo Oy have signed a preliminary contract covering a section of plot in Lappenranta centre. The plot, owned by Keskustalo Oy and facing Koulukatu Street, forms part of a block known as Citykortteli. The final contract will be signed as soon as the terms of the preliminary contract, including the city plan, obtain binding legal force and the new building obtains a valid construction permit.

Lemminkäinen’s plan is to build high-quality apartments with a central location to the plot. In addition to apartments, the building will accommodate business premises at street level. Construction at the site will begin during 2013, with the work scheduled for completion in 2015. A prerequisite for the start of construction is the confirmation of the city plan.

”We have solid expertise in developing city centres; for example, we have been playing a prominent role in the construction of Lappeenranta’s city centre,” says Seppo Tokkola, Regional Director at Lemminkäinen.

The project is a natural continuation of Lemminkäinen's previous construction projects in Lappeenranta’s city centre. These include Kulmatalo, which was selected as the best building in Lappenranta in 2010, and As Oy Lappeenrannan Rutinkulma, a building that Lemminkäinen completed on Valtakatu Street in 2011. The construction project presently underway consist of a block known as Autotalo and a plot of Tapanisen talo in Citykortteli is in the city plan process.
