LEMMINKÄINEN SIGNED THE IMPLEMENTATION-STAGE ALLIANCE CONTRACT FOR THE KEMPELE HEALTH CENTRE

Lemminkäinen, Are Oy, Insinööritoimisto Putkonen Oy, Prodeco Oy, Sweco Building Services Ltd and UKI Arkkitehdit Oy have signed the implementation-stage alliance contract for the construction of the Kempele health centre with Kempele municipality. Construction will begin immediately and the project will be completed in phases. The new building will be completed in June 2016, the first phase of the renovation in April 2017 and the second phase in late autumn 2017. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 14.7 million, of which Lemminkäinen’s share is approximately EUR 7.2 million.

The alliance project involves the construction of a new building adjacent to Kempele’s existing health centre, followed by renovation of the old building. The aim of the alliance is to implement the health centre project cost-effectively, taking the building’s full life cycle into consideration. In the alliance, the parties make decisions together, with the potential risks and benefits shared between them.

“In the development stage, we invested in user orientation. In the early stages, we created a general overview of the project, and thanks to it, together with the alliance parties we could plan the most functional solution from the users’ point of view,” says Pauli Mäkelä, Executive Vice President, Building construction, Finland, at Lemminkäinen.

“When the project is completed, the health centre will have new modern and functional premises. The new building will house the ward, the sample collection facilities and the health centre premises, while the renovated building will house student health care, the dentist’s clinic, the child welfare clinic as well as the health centre’s training and canteen facilities. The health centre continues to operate throughout the construction project,” says Risto Sarkkinen, Technical Manager of Kempele municipality.

Lemminkäinen announced the development-stage contract on 6 November 2014.
