LEMMINKÄINEN WINS THE FINNOO STATION EXCAVATION CONTRACT FOR THE WEST METRO

Lemminkäinen and Länsimetro Oy have agreed on the the excavation and reinforcement work at the Finnoo station of the West Metro in Espoo. The project will start in March 2016, and the contract will be completed in October 2017. The contract value is approximately EUR 36 million.

The extension to be built during the second phase of the West Metro, from Matinkylä to Kivenlahti, is seven kilometres long, and Finnoo is the first of the five new stations. The contract covers the excavation and reinforcement of the Finnoo station, the track and sewer tunnels, and earthworks in the area. Lemminkäinen will excavate 1,380 metres of the new metro tunnel and 771 metres of sewer tunnels.  

Lemminkäinen has been involved in building the West Metro right from the beginning, and it is the largest individual metro builder. It will also build the Niittykumpu, Matinkylä and Tapiola stations. The company has also, for instance, participated in the excavation work for the track and service tunnels at the Ruoholahti, Koivusaari and Urheilupuisto stations.
