New infra contract for Lemminkäinen in Harstad Norway

NEW INFRA CONTRACT FOR LEMMINKÄINEN IN HARSTAD NORWAY

Lemminkäinen and Norwegian public road authority, Statens vegvesen, Region nord, have signed an agreement on the construction of roads, earthworks and a pedestrian and bicycle lane in Kanebogen, in the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway. The value of the contract is approximately EUR 13.7 million. The works will begin at the end of April 2015 and be completed in June 2016.

The contract covers the widening of the existing road, the construction of two new roundabouts and the construction of the 40-metre-long tunnel for pedestrians and bicycles. A total of 12,000 tonnes of asphalt mass will be used for the paving.

“The new, wider road and the pedestrian and bicycle lane will make the road safer, both for cars, pedestrians and bicycles. This will also result in less congested traffic on the existing road,” says Risto Kupila from Lemminkäinen.
