LEMMINKÄINEN SIGNS AGREEMENT FOR ALLIANCE CONTRACT FOR A HEALTH CENTRE IN KEMPELE

Lemminkäinen and Kempele municipality and Prodeco Oy have signed a development-stage alliance contract for the implementation of the Kempele health centre. The project involves the construction of a new building adjacent to the existing health centre, followed by renovation of the old building.

In the development stage, the parties will carry out project planning and preliminary design, which will lead to the implementation stage contract if the municipal council approves the investment decision in spring 2015. According to the preliminary plan, construction would begin in April 2015 and the project would be completed in spring 2017. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 13 million, with Lemminkäinen’s share to be determined in the implementation stage contract.

The aim of the alliance is to implement the health centre project cost-effectively, taking the building’s full life cycle into consideration. In the alliance, the parties make decisions together, with the potential risks and benefits shared between them.

Risto Sarkkinen, Technical Manager of Kempele municipality, considers alliance contracting the right solution: “In this case the alliance approach offers the best way to obtain the expertise required by the client right at the outset of the project.”

“In the alliance, we can utilise the expertise of all of the parties involved in the best possible way, which is particularly important in a project that involves a great deal of user interaction, such as this one. Our job is to ensure that the health centre can continue to operate normally and safely throughout the construction project,” says Marko Palonen, Regional Director at Lemminkäinen.
