Lemminkäinen excavates new underground parking cavern in Tampere

LEMMINKÄINEN EXCAVATES NEW UNDERGROUND PARKING CAVERN IN TAMPERE

Lemminkäinen Group's Lemminkäinen Infra Oy has been awarded the excavation and
reinforcement contract for the P-Hämppi underground parking facility in
Tampere. The parking cavern, which will be located under Hämeenkatu street
between Suomen Pankin aukio and Pakkahuoneen aukio, will have 971 parking
spaces. The value of Lemminkäinen's contract is approx. EUR 27 million. 

The client is Finnpark Oy, formerly Tampereen pysäköintilaitos Oy, for which
Lemminkäinen built the P-Frenckell parking facility under Tampere's central
square in the years 2001-03. 

Excavation work will begin in August with the construction of openings on
Pakkahuoneen aukio and Pellavatehtaankatu street. Lemminkäinen's contract will
be completed at the end of May 2011. 

”This significant new contract is a natural extension of Lemminkäinen's long
track record of building underground parking facilities, which dates back to
the 1970s,” says Director Harri Kailasalo of Lemminkäinen Infra Oy. 

Lemminkäinen has constructed parking facilities in the downtown cores of
several Finnish cities, most notably Tampere, Helsinki and Turku.
