Environmental services have played a significant role from the very beginning of the Corporation's history. YIT Corporation has started as a turnkey contractor of municipal and industrial water supply systems. YIT's first contract from the year 1912 was the water tower of the City of Porvoo.

Nowadays YIT offers a full range of engineering, supply, contracting and maintenance services for water and waste water treatment, waste processing and gas conversion. Our operation is based on the long and versatile experience and know-how of the environmental business. Our process technology has successfully been used in both extreme cold winter and hot tropical conditions. One of our key values is to find the most suitable combination of treatment processes for the client's needs. We implement both complete plants and partial supplies. We take also care of training of operating personnel and provide long term maintenance and process optimising services.
