The modern waste and sludge processing produces hygienic and easily disposable end product with maximum recycle ratio of nutrients and energy. Waste processing plant is a safe and healthful working environment for personnel.

YIT Environment has solutions for both above requirements. Our main product is a waste processing plant, which takes in sludge, source-sorted household waste, mixed municipal solid waste or combination of these. Waste is sorted and mixed with sludge; the inert material is separated with our special separation units, the combination is digested or composted, dewatered and dried. The end products for source-sorted waste and sludge are dried fertiliser and biogas and for mixed waste biogas, REF-fraction, metals, inert material and stabilised sludge. The produced biogas can be utilised as heat, electricity or fuel for vechiles. We make also REF production plants for source-separated REF fraction.

The system is closed and automated. The smell and health hazards are controlled and minimised.
